The Russian government has approved a project according to which trade in services and investments will be carried out between Russia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The relevant decree was posted on the official Internet portal of legal information on August 6.

"To approve <...> the draft agreement on trade in services and investments between the government of the Russian Federation and the government of the UAE," the text of the document says.

It is specified that the draft submitted by the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation has been coordinated with the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other interested federal executive authorities. The project was also previously worked out with the UAE.

In addition, the Cabinet approved a draft joint understanding of the agreement on trade in services and investments between the two governments and a draft joint understanding on prudential measures under the agreement.

Earlier, on May 28, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergei Shoigu announced the strengthening of the partnership between Russia and the UAE. He stressed that the strengthening of the strategic partnership between the two countries is facilitated by the "regular, trusting dialogue" of the heads of state. Shoigu also noted that the implementation of the agreements reached is under special control.
