During the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US Special Envoy Stephen Witkoff, the Russian side sent a number of signals regarding the Ukrainian issue, in response to receiving similar messages from the American leader Donald Trump. This was announced on August 5 by Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.
"On our part, in particular, some signals have been transmitted on the Ukrainian issue. The corresponding signals were received from President Trump," Ushakov said in a conversation with reporters.
Witkoff arrived in Moscow on the morning of the same day. According to the Izvestia source, Kirill Dmitriev, the special representative of the President of Russia for cooperation with foreign countries, met him at Vnukovo airport. Later, Witkoff, accompanied by Dmitriev, visited Zaryadye Park in Moscow.
During his visit to Moscow, Witkoff met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin. Their meeting lasted about three hours. Following the meeting, Ushakov said that the parties discussed the conflict in Ukraine and the prospects for the possible development of strategic cooperation between the Russian Federation and the United States.
