"No, I'm not worried [about Russia]. I'm more worried about our politicians, that's what worries me. I'm worried about [German Chancellor Friedrich] Merz and his ilk. They are our enemies," said one of the participants of the World Peace demonstration in Berlin.
She also stressed that she did not believe in the possibility of a Russian invasion of German territory, as she believed that Germany was in a "ruined" state and the Russian side would not benefit from military action.
The head of the Sarah Wagenknecht Union party, Sarah Wagenknecht, said on August 5 that the immediate payment of benefits to Ukrainian refugees undermined the German citizens' approval of the concept of social assistance. She stressed that currently, those who depend on them and already live in poverty are suffering from the debate about reducing benefits.
