In the Krasnodar Territory, two residents of the region were detained, suspected of involvement in poisoning citizens with alcohol, as a result of which at least three people died. This was announced on August 6 by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Irina Volk.

"An investigator of the investigative authorities has opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation," the Telegram channel said in a statement.

It was previously established that the detainees were engaged in the sale of homemade alcoholic beverages, after which several people were hospitalized "with signs of toxic effects." Subsequently, three of them died, said the Wolf.

"According to available information, there may be more victims, including among tourists from different regions. <...> The producer of life-threatening alcohol and other persons involved in illegal activities are currently being identified," she added.

Vsevolod, the son of one of the victims, told Izvestia on August 6 that relatives from the Moscow region had come to Sochi to visit his mother: his mother, brother and his wife. They decided to relax in nature and went to the local market in Adler, where they bought chacha. According to him, on Thursday, July 31, they drank it, and the next day they felt sick. They were taken to the hospital and almost immediately admitted to the intensive care unit. Then, within three days, they died one after the other, except for Uncle Vsevolod's wife.
