France's debt increases by 5,000 euros every second, and the growing debt has already crossed a critical line. This was announced on August 6 by French Prime Minister Francois Bayrou.

"Every second of every day and every night, France's debt increases by 5,000 euros. <... > If we continue to turn a blind eye, by 2029 the debt burden will amount to €100 billion per year. We cannot postpone decisions — we need to act now," he said.

According to the Prime Minister, government spending in the country is increasingly covered not from budget revenues, but through new borrowings in the form of loans to pay for daily expenses for the needs of the country.

Bayrou also recalled that France has not had a balanced budget since 1974. At the same time, the national debt has reached a historic maximum of 3.4 trillion euros. In addition, the indicator continues to grow rapidly.

On June 5, the French BFMTV channel noted that France, as part of its ongoing rearmament strategy in European countries, placed defense orders worth €8 billion, but did not pay them due to the country's embezzled budget.

On February 3, French President Emmanuel Macron announced plans to increase his country's defense budget. He noted that this is necessary to ensure border security. Prime Minister Francois Bayrou said on May 3 that France was "on a terribly risky path" because only debt servicing, that is, annual interest, could reach €100 billion.

In January, Bayrou also noted that France's public debt had reached a record high in the country's history.
