The Cosmonaut Pavel Popovich hydrofoil set off on its maiden voyage from Sochi to Sukhum. This was announced on July 6 by the Ministry of Transport of Russia.
"A test flight to Abkhazia is being carried out by the passenger hydrofoil vessel Cosmonaut Pavel Popovich," follows from a publication on the department's Telegram channel.
It is specified that the capacity is 120 passengers.
According to TASS, the ship will travel 146 km along the Black Sea coast from Sochi railway station to Sukhumi port. It is noted that the carrier will consider the organization of regular services after the completion of the test flight.
Earlier, on July 8, the Ministry of Tourism of Abkhazia announced that Russian citizens are the mainstay of the tourist flow in Abkhazia. It was noted that a significant role in the formation of interest in the republic was played by Russian tour operators who promoted the republic beyond its borders.
