Zara advertising photos banned in Britain due to "unhealthily thin" models
Two photographs from the Zara fashion brand advertisement were banned in the UK due to the participation of models who looked "unhealthily thin." This was reported on August 6 by the BBC television and radio company.
It is noted that the country's Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) said that shadows and slicked-back hair made one model "emaciated," while the pose and deep-cut shirt in another image showed the model's "protruding" collarbones.
The agency decided that "irresponsible" advertising should no longer appear in its current form. Zara removed the advertisement and stated that both models had medical certificates confirming that they were in good health at the time of the shooting.
Earlier, netizens accused Hollywood actress Sidney Sweeney of "Nazi propaganda" and supporting right-wing views due to her participation in an advertising campaign for the American Eagle jeans brand. The reason for the criticism was the pun in the slogan Great jeans, which some users heard as Great genes ("great jeans"/"great genes"). At the same time, the actress was supported by US President Donald Trump.
