- The Kremlin has released footage of Putin's meeting with US Special Envoy Steven Witkoff.
On August 6, the Kremlin released a video of a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US Special Envoy Stephen Witkoff. The conversation took place in the executive office of the Kremlin's first building, formerly known as the Senate Palace, which is often used to receive foreign delegations.
The published footage shows how the Russian leader warmly welcomes the guest. Putin and the special envoy shook hands firmly and exchanged a few phrases without an interpreter. At that moment, Witkoff was holding a notebook in his left hand, on the leather cover of which a gold imprint of the seal of the President of the United States was visible.
Russian Presidential Aide for International Affairs Yuri Ushakov also took part in the conversation. The footage shows that Ushakov was waiting for the guests at a five-meter oval table, which has been in this office for more than 25 years.
It is noted that the negotiations are taking place behind closed doors, without the participation of the press.
Witkoff arrived in Moscow on the morning of August 6. According to the Izvestia source, Kirill Dmitriev, the special representative of the President of Russia for cooperation with foreign countries, met him at Vnukovo airport. Later, Witkoff, accompanied by Dmitriev, visited Zaryadye Park in Moscow.
This is Witkoff's fifth visit to Russia since the beginning of 2025. His last trips took place in April: to Moscow on the 25th and to St. Petersburg on the 11th, where meetings with Putin also took place.
