At least 15,000 people have been evacuated in the Canadian province of Manitoba due to wildfires. This was reported on August 6 by The Globe and Mail newspaper.
"In Manitoba, at least 15,000 people were under evacuation orders, mostly in the north of the province, while fires on the Avalon Peninsula in Newfoundland and Labrador forced about 600 people to leave their homes," the publication says.
According to the newspaper, there are more than 760 forest fires across the country, of which at least 205 are out of control. It is noted that since the beginning of the year, the area of fires has amounted to about 6.8 million hectares.

It was noted that the fire started on August 5 in the municipality of Ribot. The fire spread to an area of more than 11,000 hectares, which includes more than 15 municipalities.
