- The Chinese Foreign Ministry called the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine a crucial stage in ending the conflict.
The beginning of negotiations between Moscow and Kiev has become a crucial stage in the settlement of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. This was announced on August 6 by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
"Russia and Ukraine have already started negotiations, taking an important step forward. The current process of resolving the crisis has reached a critical point," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement posted on its official website.
Wang also added that the "six-point consensus" that was previously adopted by China and Pakistan had a positive impact on resolving the conflict.
The third round of negotiations on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict ended on the evening of July 23. The meeting of the delegations took place in the Chiragan Palace in a closed format and lasted about an hour. The head of the Russian delegation, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky, expressed hope for a fourth round of negotiations. He also added that the positions of the parties on the memoranda are currently far from each other.
Russian President Vladimir Putin later, on August 1, positively assessed the Russian-Ukrainian negotiations. He also stressed that negotiations are always in demand and always important, especially if they are aimed at striving for peace. In addition, the Russian leader stressed that in order to resolve the conflict, it is necessary to conduct a thorough dialogue in a calm manner.
