A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. The Zapad group of troops improved the situation along the front line and defeated the formations of the Ukrainian army brigades in the settlements of the DPR and the Kharkiv region. As a result of the actions of the servicemen, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) lost up to 230 militants, a tank, two British-made Snatch armored fighting vehicles and six pickup trucks. Three field artillery guns, six ammunition depots and eight electronic warfare stations were destroyed.

"Units of the Vostok group of forces continued to advance into the depth of the enemy's defenses, defeating the manpower and equipment of three mechanized, mountain assault brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, two air defense brigades and a National Guard brigade in the areas of the settlements of Novoivanovka, Novonikolayevka, Olgovskoye, Poltavka, Temirovka of the Zaporizhia region, Velikomikhailovka of the Dnipropetrovsk region, Alexandrograd and Iskra of the Donetsk People's Republic Republics. The Ukrainian Armed Forces lost more than 210 soldiers, a tank, three armored combat vehicles and eight vehicles," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The Russian army, with the help of aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), missiles and artillery, defeated gas transportation system facilities that operate enterprises of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine, warehouses of long-range drones, as well as temporary deployment points of Ukrainian formations and foreign mercenaries in 142 districts.

Air defense systems, in turn, shot down seven guided aerial bombs and 244 aircraft-type drones. In addition, two unmanned enemy boats were destroyed by the forces of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in the southwestern part of the Black Sea.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, since the beginning of the special operation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost 664 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 74,970 UAVs, 625 anti-aircraft missile systems, 24,464 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,584 multiple rocket launchers, 28,214 field artillery and mortars, and 39,180 special vehicles.
