Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree on reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The relevant document was published on August 6 on the official Internet portal of legal information.

"In order for the Russian Federation to implement the Paris Agreement of December 12, 2015, I decree the government of the Russian Federation to ensure by 2035 a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions to 65-67% relative to 1990 levels," the document says.

The decree also notes that the reduction should not occur taking into account the absorption capacity of forests, other natural ecological systems and under the condition of sustainable and balanced socio-economic development of Russia.

This decree comes into force from the date of its official publication.

On July 3, Putin pointed out the need for rational use of water as a resource. He stressed that it is necessary to use water as a resource for the economy rationally, without disturbing the balance. The Head of State also drew attention to the fact that water resources give the Russian Federation huge competitive advantages.
