- The political scientist announced the extension of the "agony of the Armed Forces of Ukraine" due to the help of the Scandinavian countries to Kiev
The announced package of assistance to Ukraine from Denmark, Norway and Sweden will only prolong the "agony of the Ukrainian army" and will not change the course of the special military operation. Pavel Feldman, Candidate of Political Sciences, Professor at the Academy of Labor and Social Relations, told Izvestia on August 6.
"The Scandinavian countries and the Baltic states are more interested than others in keeping Ukraine afloat in its current form for as long as possible. For Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky, what is valuable now is not so much real military assistance from the West as the opportunity to publicly announce to his people the allocation of another multibillion—dollar aid package from senior partners," the expert said.
According to him, in this way the head of the Kiev regime is trying to inspire Ukrainians with confidence that Europe will not abandon them.
Nevertheless, despite the financial support, the political scientist added, the Ukrainian army is facing serious problems. Currently, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have an acute shortage of personnel, and they need people who can handle weapons.
"The new Scandinavian handout will not be able to meet this need. Kiev would really need Swedish or Norwegian military personnel on the battlefield, but the Europeans will not risk their lives to save the Zelensky regime," concluded Feldman.
On August 5, it became known that Sweden would allocate $275 million to Ukraine as part of a new defense support package, the funds would be used to purchase weapons from the United States. Denmark is also joining the new arms supply program and will allocate about $89.65 million to finance initial supplies under the initiative.
On August 4, the Netherlands announced that it would be the first NATO country to supply Ukraine with U.S.-made weapons worth €500 million as part of the new initiative. It is noted that spare parts and missiles for the Patriot air defense system will be supplied to Kiev.
