The Ministry of Education talked about the goals of introducing GOST for school uniforms

The introduction of GOST on school uniforms will help to erase the boundaries between children from families with different incomes. This was announced on August 6 by Alexander Reut, Director of the Department of State General Education Policy and Development of Preschool Education at the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.

"The school uniform carries important socio-psychological aspects, removes psychological boundaries between children [from families] with different incomes, between children who belong to different faiths. Therefore, we believe that the importance of this issue cannot be overestimated," he said at a press conference at TASS dedicated to the adoption of the new GOST for school uniforms.

According to him, the standard is also designed to protect schoolchildren from poor—quality clothes, and parents from unnecessary expenses.

At the end of June, GOST was introduced in Russia for the first time, which comes into force on July 1, for sewing school uniforms.
