The US administration has sent special envoy of the US President Stephen Witkoff to Moscow to meet a self-imposed deadline for resolving the conflict in Ukraine. This was reported by Bloomberg on August 6.

"The White House is in a hurry to meet another voluntarily set deadline for a settlement [of the conflict. — Ed.]", — follows from the material.

According to the agency, the special envoy arrived in the Russian capital just two days before the deadline set by Trump for reaching a truce.

In addition, Bloomberg emphasizes that earlier the American leader threatened to impose sanctions on buyers of Russian energy resources if a truce could not be established. However, according to the agency, this is a "risky gamble" that could affect the global market.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin received Witkoff in the Kremlin. Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov is also present at the official meeting.

On July 14, American leader Donald Trump announced his intention to impose 100% secondary duties on Russia if the Ukrainian conflict is not resolved in 50 days. Later, he reduced this period to 10-12 days.

On July 31, Trump announced that the United States would impose anti-Russian sanctions after a 10-day period. However, he is not sure that they will have any effect.
