The United States has not repented of the atomic bombing of Japanese cities and is becoming more convinced that it was the right step. This was announced on August 6 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

The diplomat noted that Japanese representatives on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima did not mention that it was committed by the United States. Zakharova added that in his statement, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres also did not say that the nuclear strikes were carried out by Washington.

"By not repenting, by not repenting, they are strengthened in the understanding that they did everything right. That's the problem, they haven't repented. What does it mean to not name the United States of America? This is the creation of a comfort zone for them, this is non—withdrawal from the comfort zone," the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Sputnik radio.

Earlier in the day, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, in his speech marking the 80th anniversary of the bombing of the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, did not mention the United States as the country that dropped the atomic bomb on the cities. At the same time, he said that only peaceful coexistence and the memory of the tragic events in Japan can make politicians look at nuclear weapons differently.

In Hiroshima, Japan, hundreds of people attended a protest on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the nuclear bombing of the city by American troops. The protesters demanded the complete abandonment of nuclear weapons, as well as the cessation of armed conflicts.

In August 1945, the United States dropped atomic bombs on Japanese Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This is the only case of combat use of nuclear weapons in history, which claimed the lives of thousands of people. More than 200 thousand people became victims of the attack, and the list continues to grow.
