The first echelon with Russian military personnel and military equipment arrived in Belarus to participate in the Zapad-2025 joint exercises. This was reported on August 6 by the BelTA news agency with reference to the republic's Defense Ministry.

"Today, in a solemn atmosphere, we met the first representatives of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. During the exercise, we plan to work out new forms and methods of using units of military units of the ground forces based on an analysis of the latest modern military conflicts," Pavel Shebeko, Deputy commander of the Northwestern Operational Command, said in a statement.

Military exercises between Russia and Belarus will begin in September. It is noted that now the military personnel of both countries are at the final stage of training.

On May 16, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov announced during talks with his Belarusian counterpart Viktor Khrenin in Minsk that it was planned to practice repelling aggression against the Union State at the Zapad-2025 Russian-Belarusian exercises. According to him, the military exercises, which will be held at the training grounds of the two countries, will begin in September.

Later, on May 28, Khrenin announced that the main maneuvers of the joint military exercises of Russia and the Republic of Zapad-2025 were being moved inland from the western borders of the country. He stressed that the exercises are not aimed at other countries, and moving their main actions deeper means readiness for dialogue and reducing tension in the region.
