US President Donald Trump said he had no information about purchases of uranium and fertilizers from Russia. He replied on August 5 to a request from journalists regarding recent statements by the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"I don't know anything about it. I'll need to check, and we'll get back to that [issue]," Trump said, answering a related question.

Trump's statements came after a media employee asked for comment on information from the Indian Foreign Ministry that the United States continues to import Russian uranium and fertilizers, while threatening other states with the imposition of trade duties for the purchase and resale of Russian oil.

Earlier, Trump announced that he intends to make a decision on Wednesday, August 6, related to sanctions against countries that purchase Russian oil. A preliminary meeting will be held with Russian officials.

Earlier, Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal called the US criticism of Russian oil imports unjustified. He pointed out that India will take all necessary measures to protect its national interests and economic security against the background of critical statements from the United States and the European Union (EU).
