Ferry service between Vladivostok and South Korea's Sokcho resumed
Ferry service between Vladivostok and the South Korean city of Sokcho resumed after a one-and-a-half-year break. This was announced on August 6 by the KBS television and radio company.
"The medium-sized vessel "Kaperi" with a displacement of 6 thousand tons leaves the port of Sokcho. It is heading to the port of Vladivostok, Russia," the publication says.
It is clarified that earlier the message was suspended in February 2024 due to financial difficulties of the former shipping company. According to the newspaper, the ship has remained the same, only the company has changed.
A car ferry engaged in cargo transportation will run once a week on Tuesdays. Passenger services will resume next month, on September 9, and the frequency of flights will increase to two per week only next year.
Russian Ambassador to the DPRK Alexander Matsegora said on May 20 that the Russian Federation and the DPRK are working on launching direct flights and a ferry between Vladivostok and the Korean resort of Wonsan Kalma. According to him, in addition to direct flights between Vladivostok and Wonsan, it can also be a comfortable sea ferry that will take tourists from the capital of Primorye to the Korean beach holiday center in 10-15 hours.
