An analogue of the Alcatraz Alligator prison will appear in the US state of Indiana
In the state of Indiana, it is planned to create a prison, The Speedway Slammer, which will become an expanded analogue of the Alligator Alcatraz. This was announced on August 5 by the US Department of Homeland Security.
"The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced a new partnership with the state of Indiana to expand ICE detention facilities by 1,000 locations. The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is cooperating with the Indiana Department of Corrections, and these places will be available at the Miami Correctional Center," the agency's official website says.
It is noted that some of the illegal criminals will also be in custody there.
United States Secretary of Homeland Security Kristy Noem, in turn, said that the creation of The Speedway Slammer would significantly strengthen the fight against illegal migrants living in the country.
In May, US President Donald Trump announced that the famous Alcatraz prison on an island in San Francisco Bay would be restored and reopened on his orders. It was clarified that the updated Alcatraz would house the "most dangerous" criminals of the United States. According to the Axios portal, the American authorities can spend over $2 billion on the construction of a prison on Alcatraz Island.
