A Chinese university is planning to open the country's first research center for teaching barbecue street food preparation. This was reported on August 6 by the South China Morning Post (SCMP) agency.
"Yueyang Open University in Hunan Province in central China has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Yueyang BBQ Association to jointly establish the Yueyang BBQ Research Institute," the agency said in a statement.
It is noted that there are plans to produce up to 1,000 professional barbecue masters in three years.
"The program is designed for two and a half years of theoretical training followed by a six-month internship. He plans to enroll from 50 to 100 students each year," the SCMP added.
The Agency noted that the training program will be available both as a basic higher education, and for upgrading or changing qualifications.
