Trump claimed ignorance about the import of Russian uranium and fertilizers
US President Donald Trump said on August 5 that he had no information about the import of Russian uranium and fertilizers.
"I don't know anything about it. I'll need to check, and we'll get back to that [issue]," Trump told reporters.
This response was received after a media employee asked him to comment on statements by the Indian Foreign Ministry that the United States continues to purchase uranium and fertilizers from Russia, while threatening other countries with trade duties for the import and resale of Russian oil.
Earlier in the day, Trump announced that he intends to make a decision on Wednesday, August 6, related to sanctions against countries that purchase Russian oil. It is noted that a preliminary meeting will be held with Russian officials.
On July 29, the US president reduced the deadline for resolving the conflict to 10 days. Then he expressed his intention to impose 100% duties in the absence of a deal on Ukraine, while noting uncertainty about whether tariffs would affect Russia.
