Russian Navy ships have completed the final part of exercises with the PLA Navy

Ships of the Russian Navy conducted joint artillery firing with the Naval Forces of the People's Liberation Army of China (PLA) during the final part of the Maritime Interaction - 2025 exercise. This was announced on August 6 by the press service of the Pacific Fleet (Pacific Fleet).

"Firing from artillery systems was carried out at a group naval target, which simulated a detachment of amphibious assault ships of a simulated enemy, carrying out a sea crossing to the area of Peter the Great Bay," the department said.

The Russian fleet was represented by the large anti-submarine ship Admiral Tributs and the corvette Gromky. The Chinese destroyers Shaoxing and Urumqi took part.

The servicemen also practiced searching for a simulated enemy submarine in the waters of the Sea of Japan and organizing joint defense against attacks by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

As part of the final stage, the ships conducted a training session to destroy an enemy submarine. Especially for this part, Chinese Y-8 anti-submarine aircraft and Russian Il-38 naval aviation of the Pacific Fleet flew to the area of the event.

"As a result of effective joint actions by the crews of surface ships of both countries, the enemy submarine was promptly detected and conditionally destroyed from anti—submarine weapons systems," the statement said.

At the end of all the training events, the crews of the vessels thanked each other for their work. Officers from Russia and China also exchanged memorable gifts at the field headquarters.

"After replenishing supplies from logistics vessels, the crews of the Russian Navy and PLA Navy ships will form a new detachment to perform joint patrol tasks in the Asia-Pacific region," the Pacific Fleet said.

It is noted that the joint exercise "Maritime Interaction – 2025" was held from August 1 to August 5, 2025. For the first time in the practice of exercises on the shore, a joint headquarters was formed to coordinate all actions of the military personnel.

The beginning of the practical part of the exercises between Russia and China in the Sea of Japan was reported on August 3. The next day, a group of ships sailed from Vladivostok. The orchestra of the Pacific Fleet headquarters accompanied the departure of the ships with the performance of the march "Farewell of the Slavs". The crews fired anti-aircraft artillery systems at aerial targets, which were parachuted by an IL-38 anti-submarine aircraft of naval aviation.
