In India, four people have died and about 100 are missing after a mudslide.
Four people were killed and more than 100 missing due to a massive mudslide near the village of Dharali in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. This was reported on August 5 by The Guardian newspaper.
"The situation is serious. <...> We have received information about four dead and about 100 missing. We are praying for their safety," the newspaper quoted Indian Defense Minister Sanjay Seth as saying.
It is noted that the rescue forces of the region are deployed "in military mode." According to local officials, the death toll may rise.
"The Indian army reported that 150 soldiers arrived in the city, who helped rescue about 20 people who survived under a wall of freezing mud," the publication says.
It is reported that part of the settlement currently remains littered with debris. In some places, the mudflow reached the roofs of buildings.
On May 30, at least 13 people were killed and about 10 injured in a landslide in a limestone quarry in Indonesia. A similar incident occurred earlier in the quarry in February of this year.
