In Kursk, local residents lit lamps on the streets of the city on the occasion of the anniversary of the invasion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the region. The relevant footage is published by Izvestia on July 6.
"Such a tragedy happened, we left in what we were wearing, we didn't take anything with us. We have no right not to come and support this action," said Elena Shevkunova, a resident of Sudzha and a volunteer at the Myvmeste regional headquarters.
The lit lamps were posted by the participants of the event in the inscription "August 6, 2024. We remember!" and the figures of cranes.
The participants also honored the memory of the dead residents of the region with a minute of silence.
On August 5, two Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters, Alexander Chumak and Mikhail Prots, were sentenced to 15 and 16 years in prison for participating in an attack on the Kursk region.It was established that on January 25 of this year, Chumak, armed with an AK-74 assault rifle and ammunition, together with Prots and other colleagues, illegally entered the vicinity of the village of Guevo, Sudzhansky district.
On August 4, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced that the Russian government would allocate more than 40 billion rubles to the Kursk region. He also noted that, on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin, work is underway to provide additional support to residents of the Kursk, Belgorod and Bryansk regions.
