The U.S. Department of State has approved the sale of equipment and repair services for M777 howitzers to Ukraine in the amount of $104 million. This was announced by the United States Department of Defense's Agency for Security Cooperation (DSCA).

"The Government of Ukraine has requested the purchase of equipment, repair services and long-term support for the operation of M777 howitzers. The following items will be included: <...> technical assistance, training, publications, and other related elements of logistics and program support," the statement said.

It is noted that the main contractor for the contract will be BAE Systems, based in the UK.

Kiev will also be provided with a package of cargo transportation services and all the necessary equipment. The cost of the US support was estimated at $99.5 million.

On August 5, Sweden allocated $275 million to purchase weapons from the United States for Ukraine. The aid package includes air defense systems, including missiles for the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system, anti-tank weapons, as well as ammunition and spare parts.

On August 4, the Netherlands announced that it would be the first NATO country to supply Ukraine with U.S.-made weapons worth €500 million as part of the new initiative. It is noted that spare parts and missiles for the Patriot air defense system will be supplied to Kiev.
