The accident on the Titan bathyscaphe that sank in 2023 could have been prevented. This was reported on August 5 by the Reuters news agency with reference to the conclusions of the investigative commission of the US Coast Guard.

"The catastrophic accident of the Titan bathyscaphe, which killed five people in 2023, could have been prevented," the publication says.

It is noted that during the investigation, experts also called the ship's operating methods and safety culture of the OceanGate company serving the bathyscaphe, which was recognized as the main culprit of the crash, "critically imperfect."

On June 19, 2023, the Titan bathyscaphe set off for the wreckage of the Titanic in the Atlantic Ocean. Approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes after the dive, the bathyscaphe stopped communicating with the Polar Prince vessel.

It turned out that an explosion had occurred on the ship. OceanGate Expeditions said that they consider the passengers of the bathyscaphe to be dead. CNN reported that the passengers of the bathyscaphe died painlessly.

On board the submarine were British billionaire and researcher Hamish Harding, Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleiman, French scuba diving pilot Paul-Henri Nargole and OceanGate founder Stockton Rush, who operated the submarine.
