- About 850 thousand tons of recyclables were collected in Moscow in January – June
In the first half of 2025, about 850 thousand tons of recyclables were collected in Moscow as part of the separate garbage collection program. This was announced on Tuesday, August 5, by Deputy Mayor for Housing and Communal Services and Landscaping Peter Biryukov.
He noted that the volume of recycled waste continues to grow for the sixth year in a row, and the current figure is 20% higher than the data for the same period last year.
For the convenience of residents, a two—container system is used: blue tanks are designed for paper, glass, plastic and metal, gray - for other waste. Collection and removal are provided by about a thousand specialized garbage trucks, writes "Moscow 24".
The collected waste is delivered to sorting plants, where the recyclables are separated by type and sent for recycling. Biryukov stressed that participation in the program remains voluntary, but every year more and more citizens join it thanks to information support, the Moscow City News agency notes.
In July, residents of Domodedovo were reminded of ways to take care of the environment. Waste recycling is becoming more and more popular there. A shop has been set up in the district, which was created from plastic bags, notes 360.ru .
