Reconstruction of more than 2.3 km of low-pressure gas pipelines has been completed in the east of Moscow. This was announced on Tuesday, August 5, on the official website of the Moscow City Hall.

The work took place in the Sokolniki district on Egerskaya, Stromynka, Okhotnaya and Bolshaya Ostroumovskaya streets. Outdated steel pipes have been replaced with modern polyethylene pipes, which have a service life of more than 40 years. The updated networks provide gas supply to the residential sector and municipal facilities, writes Moscow 24.

The specialists used three laying methods: open drilling, borehole drilling and horizontal directional drilling (HDD). The choice of technology depended on the building density and geological conditions.

Vandal-proof ball valves of domestic production are additionally installed on the facades of buildings, designed to safely turn off the gas supply, the Moscow City News agency reports.
