Alexander Umnov, a lecturer at the Department of Surgery at the Medical Faculty of the State University of Education, listed the first signs of Alzheimer's disease, which seemed harmless.

In conversation with Lenta. On Tuesday, August 5, a specialist explained that the early symptoms of Alzheimer's disease can be confused with anything, even mistaken for a "normal" condition. According to him, this is a chronic degenerative disease of the nervous system, which eventually leads to dementia.

According to him, one of the early signs may be short—term memory loss, especially related to recent events - for example, a person does not remember whether he turned off the gas or the iron. There is also disorientation in space, difficulties with speech, decreased critical thinking and the ability to memorize objects. Gradually, the patient loses self-service skills and becomes helpless in everyday life.

The doctor noted that hypertension and depression contribute to the development of the disease. At the same time, the disease is more likely to develop in people with a low level of education and lack of interests. Over time, the symptoms worsen, writes RT.

In June, internist and preventologist Viktor Lishin, in an interview with Izvestia, noted that lack of sleep may be a risk factor for Alzheimer's disease. Nevertheless, a healthy lifestyle, including adequate sleep, can reduce the likelihood of developing pathology.

Also in June, the Chinese newspaper South China Morgen Post, citing American scientists, reported that unmarried people are less susceptible to dementia and Alzheimer's disease, NSN notes.

At the same time, psychiatrist, narcologist and psychotherapist Alexander Polikarpov, in an interview with the website kp.ru He talked about the association of a decrease in the ability to sense aromas with Alzheimer's. According to the doctor, people over the age of 69 who have a gene associated with an increased risk of Alzheimer's disease have an average 37% worse sense of smell, notes 360.ru .
