Statements about the possible deployment of Russian weapons in Cuba and Venezuela, published in the media, are the private opinion of individual experts. This was announced on August 5 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"As we understand it, we are talking about the private opinion of individual experts who express a personal point of view," Zakharova said, answering a question from the media about the relevant information, her answer is published on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

She added that when analyzing the possibility of such actions, Russia is based on its international obligations and bilateral agreements with interested countries.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on May 7 that Cuba is a reliable foreign policy ally, as well as one of Russia's priority partners in Latin America. Lavrov clarified that Cuba also remains in solidarity with Russia on many global issues, in particular, Moscow and Havana advocate the preservation of a "just multipolar world order" that will take into account the interests of each state.
