Finland has no plans to purchase weapons for Ukraine from the United States yet.
Finland has not yet planned to use the new NATO instrument to help Ukraine, which provides for the purchase of weapons from the United States by the countries of the alliance. This was announced on August 5 by the country's Defense Minister Antti Hakkianen.
"We have directed our resources to the national industrial program, under which we order products for Ukraine from Finnish companies all over the country," Hakkianen told Yle broadcaster.
According to Hakkanen, Finland developed this program together with Ukraine so that it would be as useful as possible.
"We are still very actively and resolutely supporting Ukraine, but now we are focusing on products coming from our domestic companies," the minister added.
On July 14, US President Donald Trump announced that the US and the EU had reached an agreement on the supply of weapons to Ukraine. According to him, the United States will produce weapons for Ukraine, and European countries will pay for them.
On August 4, the Netherlands announced that it would be the first NATO country to supply Ukraine with U.S.-made weapons worth €500 million as part of the new initiative. It is noted that spare parts and missiles for the Patriot air defense system will be supplied to Kiev.
