An aerial bomb from the Second World War was discovered in Belgrade.
A floating British MC 1000lb Mks I aerial bomb from World War II has been found at a construction site in Belgrade. This was announced on August 5 by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs of Serbia Ivica Dacic.
The weight of the aerial bomb is about 500 kg, of which about 220 kg is explosive.
"Residents of the surrounding areas will be informed in a timely manner about the recommendations on behavior," Dacic was quoted as saying in a statement on the website of the Serbian Interior Ministry.
According to the ministry, specialists from the Emergency Situations Sector conducted reconnaissance and identification of the projectile, assessed its condition and prepared it for transportation.
The aerial bomb is planned to be defused on Saturday morning, August 9th. After that, she will be taken to a safe place for destruction.
Earlier, on June 4, three aerial bombs from World War II were defused in Cologne, Germany, which led to the evacuation of almost 20 thousand residents. It was clarified that during the operation, three bridges over the Rhine River were closed, railway and automobile traffic were blocked.
