In the Altai Territory, the body of an eight-month-old child with signs of violent death was found in the village of Berezovka. A criminal case was opened as a result of the incident. This was announced on August 5 by the press service of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the region.

According to the agency, a local resident in a state of intoxication reported the disappearance of her daughter, and later, during an inspection of the household and the surrounding area, the child's body was found.

"On this fact, the Rubtsovsky interdistrict Investigative Department of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Altai Territory has opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under paragraph "b" of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code ("Murder of a minor")," the message posted on the Telegram channel says.

According to preliminary information, the girl's death occurred from an open traumatic brain injury. The department added that the child's family is registered.

The suspect in the crime was detained, the circumstances of the incident are being clarified.

On August 2, it was reported that a criminal case had been opened in St. Petersburg over the death of a baby. According to the Izvestia source, Irina Kostina gave birth to a baby at home on June 12 and never showed it to the doctors, the baby was also not registered anywhere. It was clarified that she found the newborn dead on July 9, told her roommate Igor Soldatov, who burned the remains of the child in a barrel. Later, on August 3, the Moskovsky District Court of St. Petersburg remanded Kostina and Soldatov in custody. They will remain in custody until September 30 of this year.
