Sweden will allocate $275 million to Ukraine as part of a new defense support package, the funds will be used to purchase weapons from the United States. This was announced on August 5 on the website of the Ministry of Defense of the country.

The aid package includes air defense systems, including missiles for the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system, anti-tank weapons, as well as ammunition and spare parts.

"We welcome the US decision to provide Ukraine with weapons, including the Patriot air defense system, and the fact that NATO is coordinating this assistance," Swedish Defense Minister Paul Johnson said in a statement.

Denmark is also joining a new arms supply program for Ukraine. The website of the country's Ministry of Defense states that Denmark will send about $89.65 million to finance initial supplies under the initiative.

On August 4, the Netherlands announced that it would be the first NATO country to supply Ukraine with U.S.-made weapons worth €500 million as part of the new initiative. It is noted that spare parts and missiles for the Patriot air defense system will be supplied to Kiev.

On July 21, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte called on European leaders to purchase military equipment from the United States to provide for Ukrainian military personnel. It is clarified that many members of the North Atlantic Alliance are already interested in implementing the proposal. In addition, the statement noted that such actions will be coordinated by NATO.
