General practitioner Nadezhda Chernyshova on Tuesday, August 5, told how to protect yourself from rubella.

In conversation with aif.ru The specialist noted that timely vaccination will help in this. The doctor reminded that children are vaccinated twice — at the age of one year and six years. She recommended that women planning pregnancy take a blood test for antibodies. If there are enough of them after vaccination or a previous illness, you should not worry. If the level of antibodies is low or absent, a revaccination should be performed.

The specialist noted that the disease is usually manifested by fever, weakness, mild cough and a characteristic rash on the face and body (except for the hands and feet). The peculiarity of rubella is in the latent beginning: a person becomes contagious even before the symptoms appear. In rare cases, the disease can be complicated by rubella encephalitis, an inflammation of the brain tissue.

On August 4, former chief sanitary officer of the Russian Federation Gennady Onishchenko said that there are two ways to protect a child from rubella: get vaccinated and do not stop breastfeeding. He explained that when feeding, the mother transmits the antibodies she has received during her lifetime, the website reports. kp.ru . Onishchenko added that the jump in the incidence may be due, in particular, to modern trends, when some parents fundamentally refuse to vaccinate both for themselves and for their children, RIAMO notes. According to him, "when children were dying of measles, it never occurred to anyone to refuse vaccinations," writes NSN.

In July, Roszdravnadzor announced a sufficient volume of measles and rubella vaccines. Prior to that, they reported on the stable situation in the Russian pharmaceutical market. They also noted a decline in the high demand for certain drugs, which was observed in the spring of this year.

Also in June, epidemiologist Ilya Kosolapov noted that vaccinations are still the main measure of protection against these diseases, and a decrease in the level of vaccination creates the risk of a return of infections that were previously considered defeated. 360.ru .

At the same time, internist Svetlana Nemova, in an interview with RT, listed the symptoms of rubella. According to her, the symptoms of rubella include fever, swollen lymph nodes and the appearance of a pink or red rash that first appears on the face and neck, and then spreads to the body and limbs.
