A criminal case has been opened against blogger Maxim Katz (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation) for evading the duties of a foreign agent. This was announced on August 5 by the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the city of Moscow.
"The Khoroshevsky interdistrict investigative department of the investigative Department for the Northwestern Administrative District of the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the city of Moscow has opened a criminal case against Maxim Katz, a foreign agent," the department's Telegram channel says.
According to the investigation, Katz repeatedly evaded the duties of a foreign agent in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation.
Katz is suspected of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 330.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Evading duties provided for by the legislation of the Russian Federation on foreign agents"). It is noted that the blogger repeatedly evaded his duties. The suspect is located outside of Russia.
According to the Investigative Committee, Katz is currently outside of Russia, and the investigation is considering putting him on the wanted list.
Earlier, on July 25, political scientist Ekaterina Shulman (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation) was arrested in absentia for two months. Shulman is accused of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 330.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Evading duties provided for by the legislation of the Russian Federation on foreign agents").
