Hong Kong has recorded the heaviest August rainfall since 1884. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on August 5.

"Blackened skies on Tuesday caused record downpours in Hong Kong and high—tech cities located in the Pearl River Delta region of southern China, disrupting hospital operations and closing schools and courts," the material says.

It is noted that by 14:00 (9:00 Moscow time), more than 350 mm of precipitation had fallen in Hong Kong, which is why the highest level of rain warnings ("black" signal) was introduced.

The Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Hong Kong, in turn, advised Russians staying in the metropolis to be careful and informed that the institution would be closed until the weather danger warning was lifted.

The Chinese newspaper Science and Technology Daily reported on July 29 that at least 30 people died as a result of heavy rains in Beijing. It is specified that due to the influx of warm and humid air, severe thunderstorms and heavy rains were observed in the Miyun area and other parts of Beijing.
