Rostec will begin mass production of the MC-21, SJ-100 and IL-114 aircraft in 2026.

Rostec State Corporation will begin mass production of Russian MC-21, SJ-100 and IL-114 aircraft for civilian use in 2026. This was announced on August 5 by Sergey Chemezov, the head of the company, during a meeting with Mikhail Mishustin, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, following the results of the corporation's work over the past period.

"At the moment, one of the most important tasks, of course, is the production of civil aircraft. This is our first task," he said.

According to Chemezov, there are currently more than 70 Russian and import-substituted systems and assemblies on the MC-21 aircraft. At the same time, the flight of a fully import-substituted aircraft is scheduled for August of this year.

Mishustin also added that the Russian side expects import-substituted domestic aircraft, but their production must be reliable, in compliance with the necessary safety requirements.

"Of course, everyone is waiting for these planes. I know that the corporation tries to make them carefully and reliably. In this sense, without a doubt, everything should be safe," the Prime Minister believes.

In addition, certification flights will be completed by the end of 2026, after which mass production of domestic aircraft will begin. It is noted that by 2030 Rostec will also create 15 of its own aircraft maintenance points, where spare parts will be supplied.

On July 16, it was reported that more than 20 Russian MC-21 aircraft are being built at the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) plant and are in varying degrees of readiness.

On June 26, Rostec specialists began certification tests of a prototype MC-21 medium-range aircraft with Russian systems and assemblies. During the tests, the radio communication equipment was tested. The airliner stayed in the air for four hours, periodically changing altitude.
