Sobyanin spoke about the reconstruction of the Bolshoy Kamenny Bridge

Compact specialized robots and new building materials were used in the reconstruction of the Bolshoy Kamenny Bridge, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.

The work on the cultural heritage site was completed in just 14 months, the mayor of the capital noted in the Telegram channel. According to him, thanks to the reconstruction, the bridge will be able to serve for many more years.

The restoration of the bridge took several stages, Sobyanin said. During the first one, specialists replaced the supporting structures and the beams damaged by corrosion. New communications were also laid, modern lighting was installed and cast-iron beams were repaired. In addition, the specialists restored the granite cladding.

The most difficult stage was the installation of temporary metal structures to repair sidewalks without restricting navigation, Sobyanin noted. Some work was carried out directly from the water using barges and pontoons.

Many advanced technologies were used during the reconstruction. "For example, compact specialized robots replaced workers and hand jackhammers. They are remotely controlled and are able to complete the task in hard—to-reach places," the mayor wrote. He added that this increased productivity and safety of work.
