In the Trans-Baikal Territory, the executive director of a regional autonomous non-profit organization is accused of corruption for 30 million rubles. This was announced on August 5 by the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia (SU TFR) for the region in its Telegram channel.

"According to investigators, in 2023, an autonomous non-profit organization was established in Transbaikalia, which received a subsidy of more than 250 million rubles in order to restore socially significant facilities in one of the regions of Russia. <...> The accused <...> submitted forged documents to the Department of State Property of the Trans-Baikal Territory on the completion of work in full, This made it possible to illegally obtain more than 30 million rubles," the report says.

According to the agency, the suspect was detained and searches were conducted.

According to Izvestia, Dmitry Vatagin, the former Minister of Construction of the Trans-Baikal Territory, was previously detained.

A criminal case was opened into the crime under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud committed on an especially large scale").

Earlier, on July 30, it was reported that officials of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Ingushetia are suspected of embezzling more than 10 million rubles. The investigative authorities found that in 2021-2022, officials of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ingushetia embezzled 10.7 million rubles allocated to compensate teachers for organizing and conducting the Unified State Exam.
