In Primorye, the court recovered 75 million rubles in damages and sentenced the organizer of the trepang smuggling abroad to three years of probation. This was announced on August 5 by the press service of the Far Eastern Transport Prosecutor's Office in the Telegram channel.

"By the verdict of the Artemovsky City Court of Primorsky Krai, a 48-year-old resident of Vladivostok was convicted of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal movement of strategically important resources on a large scale across the customs border"), and he was sentenced to three years in prison, suspended with a probation period of three years," it says. in the application.

It is specified that the accused, as the director of the company, organized the transportation of more than a ton of trepang across the border. He purchased products from people involved in smuggling, after which he produced forged documents for customs.

Currently, the judicial act has already entered into force.

Earlier, on July 23, a resident of Transbaikalia was accused of smuggling timber worth more than 1 billion rubles. According to the investigation, from 2017 to 2021, the accused, as part of a criminal community, issued fictitious documents for the purchase of timber and used front companies to illegally export lumber.
