The crew of a towed 152-mm Msta-B howitzer destroyed an armored car with personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Kherson region on the right bank of the Dnieper River. This was announced on August 5 by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

It is specified that during the planned reconnaissance of the area, the calculation of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) discovered an IVECO armored car with up to four servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The scouts promptly transmitted the coordinates of the enemy to the artillery command post.

The crew of the Msta-B gun, which was on combat duty, received intelligence with the exact coordinates of the detected enemy, and moved to a previously prepared firing position. After three sighting rounds and adjustments, the target was destroyed, which was recorded by objective control footage.

"We often conduct a counter-battery struggle between the two banks. The time to open fire is up to three minutes maximum, in order to have time to plug the gun, thereby saving the lives of the personnel, according to our calculations, and we often support each other's units. That is, if the enemy's gun begins to work closely on one firing position, then the adjacent firing position opens fire, thereby shutting down the enemy's gun," said the platoon commander with the call sign Dragon.

Earlier, on August 4, it was reported that the crew of the Su-34 multifunctional supersonic fighter-bomber of the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) struck at the temporary deployment point of the AFU unit in the area of responsibility of the Center group of forces. The ministry clarified that the strike was carried out at night at the specified coordinates. In this operation, aerial bombs with a universal planning and correction module (UMPC) were used.
