The Netherlands explained the mechanism of procurement of American weapons in the EU for Kiev

There is no need for consensus within the EU to participate in the US initiative to supply weapons to Kiev, the Dutch Embassy in Moscow told Izvestia.

The European Commission noted that there will be no assistance if "the situation with the anti-corruption authorities is not resolved."

"The decision to participate in this initiative is the national prerogative of all NATO allies. The EU consensus is not required to support Ukraine in its defense against Russian aggression," the Dutch Embassy in Russia told Izvestia.

On July 14, the United States and NATO agreed to supply weapons to Ukraine. US President Donald Trump announced that Washington will produce and supply weapons, and the Europeans will pay for them.

The embassy said that the American initiative will cover not only the supply of Patriot air defense systems, but also air defense equipment, missiles and ammunition.

The U.S. Mission to NATO clarified that it will include weapons for defense and offensive.

The diplomats also noted that the specific details of the initiative have not yet been disclosed.
