The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran has sent a request to the Afghan Taliban movement to share the leaked list of Afghan citizens who collaborated with the British intelligence service MI6. This was reported on August 6 by The Telegraph newspaper.

"Tehran hopes to examine a list of nearly 25,000 Afghans who collaborated with British forces in search of leverage over the West ahead of nuclear talks this fall," the publication says.

It is reported that the list contains the names and contact details of people who collaborated with the British army and special services and applied for asylum in the United Kingdom. In addition to the names, the document also contains the phone numbers and email addresses of Afghans who collaborated with the UK, as well as the details of their family members.

After the Taliban came to power in the country, many of the people mentioned in the list may have fled to Iran.

"As confirmation that the two sides are already cooperating, at least one Afghan, whose name was allegedly on the list, has been deported from Iran to Kabul over the past few days," the newspaper notes.

A senior Iranian official in Tehran also confirmed this information. According to him, a special committee has been set up in the Islamic Republic to search for the list.

"The Taliban leadership in Kandahar also ordered officers in Kabul to arrest as many of the individuals mentioned in the published document as possible in order to use them as a lever of diplomatic pressure on London," the newspaper reports.

The list containing the data of Afghans who collaborated with MI6 became available as a result of a leak in February 2022. Then one of the soldiers of the Royal Marines of Great Britain mistakenly emailed the full document instead of a separate part of it.

In addition, the list also identified the identities of more than 100 British special forces and MI6 agents who had vouched for Afghan asylum seekers.

Earlier, on March 28, the BBC broadcasting company learned about documents with classified military information found on the streets of England. The documents discovered by a man passing by contained information, including the ranks of military personnel, their email addresses, duty schedules, information on the issue of weapons, as well as data related to access to the weapons storage and intrusion detection system.
