The oddities during the speeches of US President Donald Trump may indicate that he has cognitive problems. This was reported on August 3 by The Guardian newspaper.

"For more than a year, Trump has been demonstrating strange behavior at election events, in interviews, in his spontaneous statements and at press conferences. The president constantly deviates from the topic, including at a cabinet meeting this month, where he talked for 15 minutes about decorating, and does not seem to remember simple facts about his government and his life," the publication says.

So, the American leader this month mistakenly claimed that his uncle was allegedly acquainted with the terrorist Theodore Kaczynski, known as the Unabomber. In addition, at a recent meeting with the President of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen, Trump abruptly switched the topic of discussion from migration to the inadmissibility of building windmills in the United States.

Harry Segal, a senior lecturer at the Department of Psychology at Cornell University and the Department of Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical Center, argues that the reason for such oddities is the inability of the American president to control himself and build a narrative thread during the conversation. At the same time, Trump himself has been avoiding questions about his mental state for a long time and calls himself a "stable genius," the newspaper notes.

Earlier, on April 12, Trump announced that he had successfully passed the mental aptitude test. According to him, this test was passed as part of a routine medical examination. The American leader also clarified that the citizens of his country want to see a person as head of government who "flawlessly copes" with such cognitive tests.
