Erdogan pointed out the importance of forcing Israel to cease fire in Gaza

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan pointed out to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer the importance of measures to force Israel to cease fire in the Gaza Strip. This was announced on August 4 by the Communications Department of the Turkish Presidential Administration.

"President Erdogan said that the humanitarian situation in Gaza has reached a critical point. <...> He stressed the importance of taking measures to force Israel to cease fire and resolve the [Palestinian] problem," the office's page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

According to Erdogan, Turkey is constantly sending humanitarian aid to Gaza and supports efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the region. In addition, during the conversation, he thanked Starmer for his statement regarding the recognition of Palestine.

Since July 27, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has announced a daily humanitarian pause in the fighting in the Gaza Strip. The pause will be applied in areas where the Israeli army does not conduct operations, in particular in Al-Mawasi, Deir al-Balakha and Gaza.

On July 30, the Ministry of Health of the Palestinian enclave announced that the total number of deaths from malnutrition due to the blockade in the Gaza Strip had increased to 154 people, including 89 children. At the same time, since the beginning of the conflict with Israel on October 7, 2023, the death toll has increased to 60,138 people, 146,269 were injured.
