Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated swimmer Kliment Kolesnikov on his victory at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore. A message about this appeared on the Kremlin's website on August 3.

Kolesnikov won the gold medal in the 50 m backstroke. The Russian became the world champion with a score of 23.68 seconds and set a World Cup record. The President noted that Kolesnikov had demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities and the highest class of craftsmanship.

"You performed brilliantly on the final day of the World Aquatics Championships, demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities and the highest class of skill, multiplied the golden score of our national team with your victory, and gave the fans unforgettable moments of joy and celebration," the congratulation text says.

On July 31, Putin also congratulated the Russian athletes who won the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore. The Head of State stressed that the swimmers proved themselves to be a strong and cohesive team in the combined mixed relay. He also called this discipline one of the most difficult and prestigious.
