The Russian Federation will continue to seek the resumption of an equal dialogue among the 57 OSCE participating States. This was stated on August 4 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commenting on the anniversary event dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Final Act of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe in Helsinki.
"In the end, it all came down to an anti—Russian political show, seasoned with attempts to 'privatize' the historical legacy of the Helsinki process and promote the idea of the infallibility of the Western doctrine of the 'rules—based order,'" Zakharova said. Her words are quoted on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
She added that the organizers of the event deliberately avoided a broad conceptual discussion about the future of the organization, depriving national delegations of the opportunity to express their views. According to the diplomat, the results of the event have "zero practical value" and cannot serve as a basis for making any constructive decisions.
"We will not allow the Helsinki process to be subordinated to Western conjuncture, we will continue to oppose the selective application of the provisions of the Final Act, we will continue to seek the resumption of an equal dialogue among the 57 OSCE participating states and use the organization's opportunities to convey the truth," she concluded.
On March 11, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov declared gross disregard for OSCE principles in the world. The Minister also noted that the OSCE is currently in a deep crisis due to the fault of the NATO member states and the European Union (EU).
