The German Embassy in Moscow was protested against the statements of the German Ambassador to Japan, Petra Sigmund. This was announced by the Russian Foreign Ministry on August 4.

"The German Embassy in Moscow has received a strong protest in connection with the unacceptable statements made on July 25 by the German Ambassador to Japan, Peter Sigmund, questioning Russia's sovereignty and jurisdiction over the southern Kuril Islands," the publication says on the website.
